Northwell Holdings, the venture investment arm of Northwell Health, leads investment round in Nova Leah, a first-of-its-kind cybersecurity platform aimed at protecting connected medical devices from threats.

[December 7th, 2021]: Northwell Holdings, the venture investment arm of Northwell Health, has invested in Nova Leah, a leading cybersecurity technology company with offices in Boston and Dundalk, Ireland. The investment was led by Northwell Holdings and supported by a number of other investors. Nova Leah was founded by Dr. Anita Finnegan, international government advisor and award-winning expert in cybersecurity risk management.

“Nova Leah is one of the most exciting companies within the fast-growing sector of cybersecurity for connected medical devices,” said Rich Mulry, president and CEO of Northwell Holdings & Ventures. “We believe Northwell’s investment and expertise will support Nova Leah’s expansion into health care provider markets.”

Nova Leah’s customers include many of the world’s top medical device manufacturers. Its award-winning cloud-based security product SelectEvidence® ensures that connected medical devices are continuously assessed for cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

The investment is timed to support Nova Leah in expanding its technology footprint across the US, bringing its real-time threat monitoring product portfolio into health care delivery systems. The move is a response to the significant and growing disruptions that healthcare delivery systems have experienced as a result of a variety of security threats, which have hampered their ability to function effectively. Nova Leah supports cybersecurity processes across medical device design and development, market approval, monitoring, supply chain, purchasing, deployment, and use right through to product decommissioning.

Anita Finnegan, PhD, founder and CEO of Nova Leah welcomed the news. “Northwell Health has an outstanding reputation for both market innovation and patient safety. We are excited to collaborate with Northwell Health to apply our product IP to the health care delivery market in New York and beyond. This investment will have a significant impact on our ability to enter new markets and scale effectively.”
